Why would a guy repeatedly tell the details of his past sex life to his current girlfriend?

Probably it's because he wants you to be better than them in bed? But anyways, my boyfriend told me about his past sex life and it hurts me so bad... but it triggers me to my extent that I must be better in bed than his previous girlfriend. This is because I'm a jealous type.. D;
