What is symbolic about Daphne turning into a tree?

So i have to do an analysis of Ovids story of Apollo and Daphne and i was wondering what underlying symbolism is there to her turning into a tree of all things instead of something else like a stone or flower??....what themes/ morals can this change be associated with?
